Dear Kindergarten Families

We find ourselves very close to the end of the school year. I would like to thank you for being a very commited group of parents. This shows in your children each school day. They have grown in maturity and social sense this school year. The end of the Kindergarten year always brings some anxiety about what lies ahead. Don't be surprised if you encounter some changed behavior. Continue to try to stay to as much of a schedule as is possible. The children seem to be overly tired some days. Make sure they eat some breakfast and remember a healthy snack. This last push to the end of the year can sometimes be tiresome.

Thank you so very much for attending the May Crowning. The children were very proud of their accomplishment. It is a step toward self confidence when a child of their age is able to stand in front of a group of people and be comfortable with themselves. Not all children excell in this capacity at the same rate. I would like to thank all of you who came to help with this service and a huge thank you for all the beautiful flowers. A special thank you to Miss Elizabeth for the beautiful hand made crown and to Mrs. Gaffey for coming back to help with our celebration. Our treat at Gillwoods was excellent fun. The children were very well behaved and enjoyed their time away from school.

The sign up calendar for the last few days of school is on the classroom door. If you would like to come in and help the days left are limited.
Your last reading log should be returned to the classroom by Monday, June 7th. I hope you take this opportunity to read some fine stories. Both the public library in Saint Helena and in Calistoga run excellent summer reading programs. Enrollment in these programs will help your child be even more prepared for first grade.

On  Thursday, June 3rd, we will come to my house in Calistoga for our annual end of the year swim party. Miss Elizabeth is a certified life guard so the children will be well looked after. If your child is not comfortable in the water please make sure you send water safe equipment along on that day.On Friday, June 4th, we will visit the Saint Helena Farmers Market. We will have some play time at Crane Park.

I would also take this opportunity to thank our fifth and sixth grade buddies. I think the children have formed some firm connections. It was a wonderful mentoring opportunity for the older students. Thanks to Mrs. Humphries for supporting this important element of the Kindergarten program.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,

Jean Williams
